A 21-year-old American woman was allegedly the victim of a gang rape by her “guide” and his accomplice in the Pakistani province of Punjab, provoking condemnation from the American embassy.

According to police, the crime took place on July 17 at a tourist resort of Fort Munro in Dera Ghazi Khan district, about 500 kilometers from Lahore.

The victim, a social media vlogger/influencer, was traveling with her social media friends Muzamil Sipra and Azan Khosa to create a vlog.

Police said the American woman had come to Fort Monroe from Karachi after being invited by her social media friend Sipra, whose home she visited on Sunday in the Rajanpur district of Punjab.

The woman, who holds a tourist visa for Pakistan, had been living in the country for seven months.

The FIR, which is available with WION, says the victim was staying at a hotel where she was raped by them.

“We stayed at a hotel in Fort Monroe where the two suspects gang-raped me and also made a video of the act to blackmail me,” she alleged in the FIR.

One of the accused, Sipra, has already been arrested by military border police as raids are carried out to arrest the other suspect.

Punjab Chief Minister Hamza Shehbaz has requested a report from the Inspector General of Punjab Police (IGP) on the Fort Munro incident.

Meanwhile, a US Embassy spokesperson told WION they are in contact with the police and are making sure the woman is taken care of.

“Protecting American citizens abroad is the highest priority of the U.S. State Department and our embassies and consulates abroad,” he said.

“Out of respect for the privacy of the alleged victim, we cannot comment on the details of the allegation. The U.S. Consulate General in Lahore stands ready to provide consular services to any U.S. citizen victim of a crime” , he added.
