We are looking for motivated young leaders, currently studying at the Gymnasium, to participate in the 2022 Benjamin Franklin Transatlantic Fellowship this summer! The Fellowship is a fully-funded 4-week Department of State program for young Europeans to learn about the United States, youth engagement, democracy and civil society engagement, and prosperity economic.
The program runs from June 25 to July 23, 2022 at Purdue University, Indiana.
What is the Benjamin Franklin Transatlantic Fellowship?
This scholarship is an intensive, short-term exchange program, created to foster relationships between young Europeans and Americans to build strong bonds and an awareness of shared values. The four-week program will allow teens ages 16-18 to explore US foreign policy priorities such as youth engagement, support for democracy and civil society, and economic prosperity. The program will include a series of lectures, discussions and presentations in seminars, as well as a wide range of practical workshops, led by professors and mentors. Courses and classroom activities will be supplemented with community service activities, site visits, social and cultural activities, and homestays with American families to deepen participants’ experience of American society during their exchange.
During the residence hall, participants will also have the opportunity to discuss other topics such as democratic practices, conflict resolution, problem solving, communication skills, critical thinking, tolerance and respect. diversity, youth leadership, team building and media. The institute will explore how freedom of expression gives rights and imposes responsibilities on citizens.
The exchange is fully funded and the U.S. Embassy in Sweden will assist the selected participant with travel and visa requirements. The visa application requires a visa interview in Stockholm in person.
