Lawyer who served time for fake visas cannot be reinstated

By Sophia Dourou (August 23, 2022, 4:47 PM BST) — A court on Tuesday refused to re-list a lawyer after he went to jail for falsifying documents to make false visa applications for clients.

A three-member panel of the Lawyers Disciplinary Tribunal upheld its earlier decision to remove Gabriel Yaakov, formerly Gabriel Gabman, from the rolls following his conviction for violating immigration law.

“It is fair for us to say that we have considered that you have considerable gaps to fill in relation to a successful application for readmission to the roles,” said panel leader Edward Nally.
