Issuance of visas on the basis of simplified procedures will start on October 11

The Japanese Embassy in the Philippines announced on Tuesday, October 4 that it is now accepting applications for all types of visas, including temporary visitor visas for individual trips, visiting friends and multiple entries.

Previously, Japan only allowed entry to visitors who had travel packages arranged by a travel agency.

According to its website, travelers are also no longer required to register with ERFS – their incoming, returnee tracking system, while a host’s written commitment is also no longer required for friends in visit.

The embassy said the issuance of visas based on these simplified procedures will begin on October 11. Also from October 11, the suspension of the validity of the multiple-entry visa and the APEC Business Travel Card will be lifted, while the visa waiver provisions will also resume. .

However, the embassy said “Philippine nationals are not subject to the visa waiver provisions and must obtain an appropriate visa.”

If travelers are to enter Japan no later than October 10, they should apply for a visa based on the previous procedures.

Additionally, all entrants and returnees to Japan who have three doses of COVID-19 vaccine accredited by the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare in their valid vaccination certificates are no longer required to acquire a negative certificate. .

“Other entrants or returnees must obtain a negative test result for COVID-19 taken within 72 hours of departure,” they added.
