MOSCOW (UrduPoint News/Sputnik – September 15, 2022) Russian citizens can still apply for US immigrant visas in Poland, despite Warsaw’s actions against issuing tourist visas to Russians. while applications for U.S. nonimmigrant visas can be submitted at any U.S. embassy or consulate around the world, Jennifer Palmer, spokeswoman for the U.S. Embassy in Moscow, told RIA Novosti.
“We have no changes to announce at this time in the processing of immigrant visas for Russian nationals,” Palmer said when asked if the application procedure had changed since Polish authorities decided to do not accept tourist visa applications from Russians.
Visa applicants should go to the nearest consulate where it is possible to make an appointment to apply for a visa, she explained, adding that “the Polish government makes decisions regarding the entry of foreign nationals into this country.
Palmer advised to “submit additional questions to the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs or the nearest Polish embassy or consulate.”
“Russian nationals may continue to apply for nonimmigrant visas at any U.S. embassy or consulate where they can obtain an appointment. We regret that the Russian government’s actions to reduce staff at embassy made it impossible for us to continue providing visa services in Russia,” Palmer said.
She noted that the United States “does not believe in holding all Russians accountable” for the government’s actions, adding that “as we have repeated since the beginning of the conflict (in Ukraine), the Russian people are not our enemy”.
