General elections in Kenya

Location: Kenya, Nationwide

The results of Kenya’s 2022 presidential election were announced on August 15, 2022. Large crowds may gather in parts of the country in response to the announcement.

Election-related protests and rallies regularly take place during the elections and are expected to continue, sometimes blocking key intersections and causing traffic jams. Demonstrations can sometimes be violent, requiring police intervention.

Actions to take:

· Monitor local media for updates.

· Avoid crowds.

· Avoid demonstrations.

· Keep a low profile.

· Be aware of your surroundings.

· Be vigilant when visiting banks or ATMs.

· Do not show signs of wealth, such as wearing expensive jewelry or watches.

· Review your personal safety plans.

· Have up-to-date and easily accessible travel documents.

· Bring proper ID, including a copy of your US passport bio-page with a copy of a current Kenyan visa.
