Czech Foreign Minister Jan Lipavský yesterday (October 26th) began a two-day working visit to Qatar, during which he will officially open the first Czech embassy in Qatar’s capital, Doha.
Through a press release, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs indicated that the main objective of this visit would be to support trade and cooperation between these two countries in the field of energy, reports SchengenVisaInfo.com.
“During the visit, the Czech Foreign Minister will present the priorities of the Czech Presidency of the Council of the EU with regard to the EU’s strategic cooperation with the Gulf and energy security,” he said. he adds. read the statement.
According to the ministry, the topic of discussion at the meeting will also be Russia and the situation in Ukraine.
At the same time, Qatar’s preparations for the World Cup will also be discussed from the perspective of the consular services of the Czech Embassy in Doha.
On October 10, the Qatari authorities announced the same decision, revealing that the following month, Qatar will open an embassy in the capital of the Czech Republic.
At the time, during a joint conference, the Emir Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani and the President of the Czech Republic, Milos Zeman, also reached an economic partnership agreement.
As President Zeman explains, the diplomatic mission has already started working in Doha. Furthermore, he stressed that the foundations for long-term strategic cooperation between the two countries have already been laid. Earlier this year, the Czech Republic also opened its embassy in Doha.
According to the Czech Ambassador in Doha, Peter Chalupsky, regardless of the global economic turmoil, including the energy crisis in Europe, another goal exists to deepen the Qatari-Czech partnership in investment, trade and energy since development of these relationships has recently gained momentum.
At the same time, the Ambassador expressed the long-term vision to keep the newly constructed infrastructure operational long after the event for the benefit not only of the people of Qatar but also of the entire region and the world.
Ambassador Chalupsky also added that the two countries have a lot in common when it comes to a strategic approach to modernizing the economy through building modern infrastructure, as well as digitalization and investing in the latest technologies.
In addition, the Ambassador announced that the main areas in which the two countries aim their cooperation are the tourism industry, especially in hotels and spas, and the development of tourism infrastructure in a broad sense.
