Two arrested at US Embassy for forging US visas

US Embassy detectives in conjunction with Kabalagala police have arrested two suspects in connection with the forgery of US visas.

Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesman Patrick Onyango said on 19/09/22 at 12:30 p.m. One Mubiru Smith Daniel went to the Embassy with a passport from his friend to confirm if the visa had been delivered.

”The embassy checked the passport and confirmed that the visa was fake. Detectives attached to the US Embassy immediately asked Smith to direct them to where his friend was,’ Onyango said.

He added that detectives were taken to a hotel opposite the Centenary Bank Kabalagala branch and obtained the suspect with another false passport and visa awaiting payment of 12 million shillings.

“The embassy detective coordinated the arrest of Oscar Bamwenda, the individual who forged the visa and who was waiting at the hotel,” he added.

This case was filed with Kabalagala Police under SD 130/19/09/2022.

Oscar Bamwenda led the police to Nyeko Steven aka Toby Steven who is behind the forgery of the two visas.

The two suspects are being held at the Kabalagala police for forgery. We want to urge members of the public to follow proper procedures to acquire travel documents not through illegal means.
