Barbadians can again apply for all categories of non-immigrant visas at the U.S. Embassy at Wildey Business Park.

According to a press release from the embassy, ​​officials have resumed processing routine in-person appointments in all nonimmigrant visa categories starting this month.

The press release adds that the US State Department has authorized consular officials to waive the in-person interview requirement for certain categories of nonimmigrant visa applicants until December 31 of this year.

“This new authorization applies to travelers applying for F, H-1, H-3, H-4, non-general L, M, O, P, Q and academic J visas, who previously held any type of visa, s ‘they apply for a visa in their country of nationality or residence,’ the press release said.

“This authorization does not apply to applicants who have a prior refusal that has not subsequently been reversed or overcome. Adjudicating consular officers may request an in-person interview if additional information is required from the from the candidates.

Applicants who renew a visa within 48 months of expiration also continue to be eligible for an interview waiver.

The press release also said that due to downsizing and numerous pandemic-related disruptions to embassy operations since March 2020, demand has been high for B1 tourist and business visas. B2 and wait times can be long for appointments in this category.
