US Embassy: US Embassy Announces Student Visa Interview Slots | India News

NEW DELHI: The US Embassy in India has announced that interview slots for student visa categories F, M and J have been opened for dates in June and the first half of July 2022.
Last year, the US Embassy in Delhi and Consulates in India opened student visa interviews much later on June 14, due to the Covid pandemic situation, many students who were planning to join US universities that have already received their I-20 student documents from US universities and are awaiting interviews.
This year, after opening up interviews for student visas earlier, U.S. officials hope to issue more student visas than the record 62,000 issued last year to students joining U.S. universities in fall 2021.
The latest student visa announcement by the US Embassy also told students not to panic if they are unable to make a visa appointment in the first installment.
“If you don’t get a date in that bracket, don’t panic. We will focus on students for the months of June, July and August and will open slots for the rest of July and the first half of August later,” the announcement said.
Additionally, additional appointments in June and July may also be open if resources permit. To provide relief to applicants, the US Embassy has also relaxed its previously announced stance of not giving a second chance for visa interviews to student visa applicants who were denied a visa earlier.
“If you have a prior refusal, watch for open appointments in the second half of August when you will have a second chance at the interview,” the announcement said.
