Vietnam embassy appoints Gujarat-based Saurin Shah honorary consul in Gandhinagar


The Vietnamese Embassy in India on Tuesday appointed Gujarat businessman Saurin Dilipbhai Shah as Vietnam’s honorary consul in Gandhinagar, Gujarat, as part of Vietnam’s efforts to deepen cooperation between the two countries.

Shortly after the announcement of the Honorary Consul in Gandhinagar, Saurin Shah spoke to ANI about his role and responsibilities. “Thank you to the Vietnamese Embassy for appointing me Honorary Consul for Gujarat. It is a huge responsibility that I will take on,” Saurin Shah told ANI.

From Tuesday, Saurin Shah will be the nodal person for the western region for visa approvals and trade and business relations. “We have a slogan for Gujarat earlier ‘kuch din toh gujaro gujarat me’ now I tell people ‘kuch din toh gujaro Vietnam me’,” Saurin Shah told ANI.

The newly appointed Vietnamese consul expressed his confidence in promoting pharmaceutical and textile enterprises through the coastal route. “Gujarat and Vietnam have a wide range of coastal areas and its great potential for business between two countries in the pharmaceutical and textile industry sector,” he added.

On his first day as Vietnam’s Honorary Consulate General, he offered the invitation to Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh for the upcoming “Vibrant Gujarat” event that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate. (ANI)
